Commencing in January 2010 the Strategy Development Board has, at the request of Council, reviewed the Institute's strategy for the five year period starting in 2011.
This process was initiated following Council's decision that the bulk of the recommendations of the previous strategy review report, agreed by Council in 2005, have been implemented.
The process has been a lengthy and engaging one. Council at its meeting in November requested that this draft plan be issued to members for consultation. A dedicated email address at Strategy Review was establshed to allow members comment on the draft report. The Board is grateful to the members who took the opportunity to do so. Members who would like to comment on the published plan can also do so at the above address.
At its meeting in January and following consideration of the views expressed by members and stakeholders, Council approved the report.
The draft report identifies a number of key strategic themes:
- Repairing the reputation of the profession
- Reconnecting with members
- Recruiting new members into the profession
- Reducing the level of fees to members
- Reshaping our governance procedures
At the heart of our thinking has been the need to continue the progress the Institute has made in recent years while recognising that our members are operating in more difficult economic circumstances.
