FRC Chair announces appointments to the AADB, APB and POB

The Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council, Sir Christopher Hogg has today announced twelve new appointments covering three of the FRC's six operating bodies.

Sir Christopher said:

"I have great pleasure in welcoming twelve new appointees to the Accountancy and Actuarial Discipline Board, the Auditing Practices Board and the Professional Oversight Board. The range of their experience and expertise will be a great asset to the respective Boards."

The new appointments:-

ACCOUNTING & ACTUARIAL DISCIPLINE BOARD

James Kellock is a barrister and former senior civil servant with the Serious Fraud Office who has considerable experience of investigations and prosecutions.

Neil Lerner is a member of the ICAEW, and a former risk management partner with KPMG. He will be one of three accountants on the board.

Paul Smith is a former Finance Director of Ford Motor Company UK. A non-accountant, he has direct experience of industry and the duties of company directors

AUDITING PRACTICES BOARD

Alyson Coates is Vice Chair of South Central Strategic Health Authority and an audit committee member of Oxford Brookes University. Previously she was a senior investment analyst with Societe Generale specialising in pharmaceuticals and healthcare.

Russell Frith is the Director of Audit Strategy at Audit Scotland. In this role he is responsible for ethics, risk management, quality appraisal of audits and professional and technical support to Scottish public sector auditors.

John Hughes is a partner with KPMG with extensive experience of banks and capital market institutions.

Ian Pickering is audit committee Chair of the Coventry Building Society and Bedford Hospital Trust and a Council member of Cranfield University. Previously he was the Chief Executive of Manganese Bronze Holdings plc.

Allister Wilson is a partner with Ernst & Young and has overall responsibility for the firm's assurance services to the oil and gas sector.

PROFESSIONAL OVERSIGHT BOARD

Iain Cheyne is a lawyer with extensive experience of the banking industry. He has been a financial adviser to the Aga Khan and worked for a number of years with Lloyds Bank.

Mick McAteer is a consumer advocate having worked for many years for Which? (formerly the Consumers' Association). He is also a member of various European consumer panels including those for the banking and insurance regulators.

Lillian Boyle is a former President of the Chartered Insurance Institute. She is currently Chair of the CII Audit Committee and was previously Managing Director of Scottish Provident International.

John Kellas is the recently retired Chair of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board where he led the Clarity project and the former senior technical partner of KPMG in the UK.

The FRC has also reappointed Stuart Turley (Professor of Accounting at the University of Manchester) and Martin Ward (a partner with Dodd & Co, Carlisle) to serve a second term on Auditing Practices Board and Anthony Carus (Actuarial Consultant) to serve a second term on the Professional Oversight Board.
