Mid Western Society of Chartered Accountants - A Message from the Chairman

Mon, Aug 31, 2009

The mission of the Mid Western Society of Chartered Accountants is to actively support the growth and development of members, businesses and communities in the Mid-West region and to increase the profile and local demand for Chartered Accountants. The last year has brought many changes locally, nationally and internationally. It is more apparent than ever before that we as members need to work together to support our businesses, communities and other members.

To this end, the Mid West Society is in constant communication with the President and Council of the Institute to ensure support for members and to offer regional support for national initiatives undertaken by the Institute to address concerns of members during these difficult times.

For Chartered Accountants the process of life long learning begins early, starting with a comprehensive education, training and examination programme leading to qualifying for admission as a Chartered Accountant. CPD enables Chartered Accountants to continue to develop their skills and knowledge and thus ensure our qualification remains the premier accounting qualification whilst continuing to provide the highest quality service to our clients.

This year Limerick was established as a recognised centre of learning for our student members. Alongside the material cost and time savings for members, the increased profile and job creation will be of significant benefit to the Mid-West region.

In conjunction with this we have also increased the number of CPD seminars and courses available locally to members including a number of programmes that are being run in partnership with the Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick. I would strongly encourage you to support our institute by attending some of these upcoming programmes as without your support they are not sustainable.

CPD is more that just a training course or a seminar; CPD is an opportunity to meet people, network, discuss problems and find new business opportunities. In the current economic environment this is more important than ever.

Over the coming months our number one priority is continued support for our members, businesses and communities. If there are areas where the Society can help, or if you have help to offer, please contact me or any of the Committee members, details below.
