Our 2009 programme has the most varied range of courses designed for Accountants in Ireland. Members who have already used their CPD credit (wow that was quick!) have asked us a couple of questions :
- How do I use my CPD credit?
When you are completing a CPD booking form to enrol on a course you will see a small box that says 'Please use my ICAI member's €100 CPD credit against this course'. Simply tick the box.
- Why can't I use the credit when booking online?
For the simplest of reasons - we only decided to offer this credit at the end of December and haven't had time to make all the changes needed to the web. We are improving the functionality of the CPD section of the new website and hope to include the credit option.
- Can I transfer my CPD credit to another member?
No, sorry, this is to assist you in your CPD only.
It can be used against ICAI half day (including the 2 hour CPD updates) and full day CPD classroom based courses. We have had to restrict it to these 2 options for cost reasons. Online courses, District Society events, breakfast briefings and conferences are run at or below cost and involve most of the income being paid to a third party provider. Training tickets and in-company courses are already heavily discounted, so the same restriction applies.
- Why does an ROI member get €100 credit and an NI member get £70 credit - that's a funny exchange rate?
ICAI is an all Ireland body so we price according to jurisdiction as opposed to fixing the price in one currency and then translating it (which at recent exchange rates would be very unfair on our NI members). This means that the credits relate to the cost of training and living in each location. The same holds true for our training tickets.
- What happens if I can't find a course to use my credit on?
Then let us know soon so we can look at providing a new course or an existing one in a more suitable location. Email cpd@icai.ie
