Media speculation suggests that David Went, the former chief executive of Irish Life & Permanent, is to be named as the new chairman of the Financial Regulator's consultative industry panel.
Informed sources said that Went had accepted the industry role and would replace former HSBC Ireland chief executive James Deeny on the panel.
Went stepped down as chief executive of Irish Life & Permanent in May 2007 and is now chairman of the Irish Times and the Trinity Foundation. He also serves as a non executive director on the board of VHI.
