As you may be aware 2009 - 2010 will see the first year of the new FAE syllabus. It will be distinct in many ways from the existing syllabus; among these distinctions is a division of the exam into FAE Core and FAE Elective. The Core course content will be examined in integrated case study style over two days and the Elective will be examined separately.
Each FAE student will be required to enrol on the FAE Core Course and to choose one of three Electives.
Elective Options
1. Audit
The purpose of this course is to equip students with the necessary skills to manage audit assignments in conjunction with the Audit Engagement Partner.
Studying the Audit Elective is a requirement for anyone qualifying under "new" FAE wishing to obtain an Auditing Certificate . It is important to note, however, that this can be done as part of FAE (by choosing the Audit Elective) or post qualification (by CPD)
2. Taxation
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a broader understanding of the framework in which taxation operates and to equip students with the necessary skills to advise on the taxation implication of decisions which trigger a potential capital taxation liability, from the perspectives of both transferor and transferee
This Elective is a pre-requisite for anyone qualifying under "new" FAE wishing to undertake the Chartered Tax Consultant qualification.
3. Advanced Performance Management
The purpose of this course is to develop the student's ability to assess how business decisions can be influenced by local and global economic and competitive environments
As the division into FAE Core plus FAE Elective, coupled with the integrated examination style , is a significant departure from the existing structure we would like to give all interested parties an opportunity to learn more about the course. In order to facilitate this we are running an information session in various locations nationwide. These will run as follows.
