Autumn 2008 saw the launch of the Diploma in Forensic Accounting by the ICAI in Dublin. This first course proved hugely successful and as a result we are investigating the development of a version specifically tailored to meet the requirements of members working in the North. We are proposing that this course will run from September 2009 however it will only run if sufficient demand exists.
The course would take account of the differences in the legislative environment and the court system while retaining common key elements and skills required in the discipline.
Areas addressed:
- Develop the skills required to undertake the role of 'expert witness' in legal actions
- Learn how to conduct Fraud, Theft and Other Financial Investigations
- Learn how to employ the latest data recovery techniques, investigative interviews and the gathering of evidence to the standards required for presentation in a court case
Course structure:
The course will be offered on a part time basis over 6 months, one Friday afternoon/Saturday morning per month. The course takes a case study based approach and is assessed using a combination of continual assessment (home assignments) and final exam.
We wish to gauge interest from members based in NI for this proposed version of the course and if you are interested in seeing it offered in Belfast or would like to receive more information we would invite you to contact us now, email forensic@icai.ie or contact Joe Carroll, ICAI department Lifelong Learning Manager 00353 1 637 7316 or to download a brochure for the original Dublin course go to www.icai.ie/forensic
