Corporation Tax (CT) Online Service Updates - 23 November

Mon, Nov 16, 2009

As previously covered in eNews, from 1 April 2011, all Company Tax Returns for accounting period ending after 31 March 2010 must be filed online with accompanying accounts and computations in Inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language (iXBRL) format. In preparation for this, HMRC is updating their CT Online service on 23 November 2009.

The main features of the online service will be the same, however many existing filing software products that enable taxpayers to file their Company Tax Return online will no longer be accepted by HMRC systems from 23 November.

The current CT online return form will also be withdrawn and replaced with updated software on 23 November 2009. HMRC recommends that taxpayers, who intend to use the online return before this date, must do so by 18 November 2009.

If data is saved on the current HMRC online return, taxpayers must make sure that it is saved onto their own computer before 19 November 2009. Data cannot be accessed through the CT online filing service after that date.

Further details on the HMRC CT Online service updates is available here.
