- Structured Discussion Meetings - this can include network meetings where a presentation is made by a competent individual

- Studying material provided in advanced of formal training (listed above)
- Up to 3 hours of this type of activity can count towards the structured CPD requirement
Quality Review
- Quality review and other monitoring visits undertaken by CARB or any other regulatory body - in particular opening and closing meetings
- Subject to a maximum of 3 hours per visit

In House Training
- Training provided by Chartered Accountants Ireland or another competent trainer/training organisation
Example: Chartered Accountants Ireland In Company Training.
Additional Qualifications
- Private study
- Distance learning
- Formal courses
Example: Further qualifications such as the Diplomas and Certificates available from Chartered Accountants Ireland, or the Chartered Tax Qualification.
Research and Lecture Preparation
- Preparing to give a lecture or presentation
- Research for an article or publication in your own name
- Research for a new project

UNSTRUCTURED CPD
Individual Home Study
- Alternative forms of learning where there is no interaction with other individuals and no assessment provided
Network and Focus Groups
- Credit for discussion of technical matters only
- No more than 50% of total unstructured CPD
Top Tip! Being coached or mentored by a peer may also count as CPD.
Reading
- Credit for reading technical articles only
- No more than 25% of total unstructured CPD
Example: Publications and information from the Chartered Accountants Ireland Technical Department, Chartered Accountants Ireland Publishing, or Accountancy Ireland.
