ODCE calls on Directors to stay up to date...

Fri, Oct 9, 2009

The need for Directors to be fully aware of the scope and possible impact of their duties and responsibilities has never been clearer. Speaking recently, Kevin Prendergast, FCA corporate compliance manager with the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE) explained the need for directors need to stay up to date.

He said it was imperative that company directors did not 'ignore issues or hope someone else would resolve them' and that they should 'keep up to date...'

Directors should he said register for the updates on the ODCE website and consider attending one of their presentations or a course on the topic.

One such course is the Chartered Accountants Ireland Certificate in Directors Duties and Responsibilities which starts again this November. It runs over 5 weeks and will take participants through the major themes from meetings, company secretarial to corporate governance.

The programme will feature experts from a range of disciplines including from the Irish Stock Exchange and from the ODCE.
