Revenue has issued a further warning that fraudulent emails, purporting to come from Revenue, are issuing to taxpayers in connection with a tax refund. The phishing email headed "Please Submit Your Payment Refund" advises recipients of a refund of €175.25" and seeks specific personal details in order to action the refund. As reported in Chartered Accountants news last week, taxpayers should also be vigilant of phonecalls from individuals claiming to be Revenue officials and seeking personal information (e.g. PPSN numbers or addresses, details of earnings) and/or demanding payment of tax.
