Chartered Accountants Tax News - 20th September 2010

Mon, Sep 20, 2010

Members have reported delays in registering as an agent and the setting up of agent links on Revenue On-line Service (ROS).  This issue was brought to Revenue’s attention at the recent meeting of the TALC Collection sub-committee.

Revenue advised that applications are processed by the Revenue Districts on a daily basis and there has been no report of delays from the Districts in the setting up of agent links on ROS.  All Districts have been notified of the delay reported by members and Revenue advised that agents should contact their local District, using the contact details provided on Revenue’s website, if there is an issue with the process.

Readers are reminded that since 1 July 2010, applications from agents seeking to represent a client for tax purposes for the first time or to add an additional tax for a client must be accompanied by a letter of authorisation from the client.  Revenue’s eBrief No. 40/10 refers.  Readers should note that it can take up to 2 days for applications to be processed by Revenue and a further 3-4 days for the client link to be updated on ROS.
