The Institute is an active member of the Federation des Experts Comptables (FEE).

FEE

FEE aims to be the leading representative body of the European accountancy profession to the institutions of the European Union. It seeks to reflect the calibre and diversity of the profession it represents through high quality technical work, serving the interests of both clients and employers. FEE recognises that the European accountancy profession carries out many of its activities in the public interest and has therefore a special responsibility towards society.

See also the FEE website.

Each member country is entitled to be represented on the Council of FEE. Ireland is represented by an appointee of the Institute who acts on behalf of the Institute and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

The Institute participates in a number of committees run by FEE. These are:

  • Audit Committee
  • Accounting Committee
  • Ethics Committee
  • Liberalisation/Qualification Committee

The FEE works closely with the European Commission which itself operates through a number of committees made up of government departments representatives from all member states. The EC sets regulations and the legislative agenda for member states. This is particularly relevant in relation to Company Law.
