Representing Your Interests

Chartered Accountants Ireland is your support network, dedicated to representing members' needs and concerns. As a public interest body, we work to promote a dynamic pro-business environment aimed at supporting the interests of the whole community.

Some of our key areas of activity include: company law, financial reporting, taxation, auditing and assurance, and business regulation. This includes making submissions and representations to Government and regulatory agencies in respect of proposals in the above areas, and items on the wider business agenda.

Priority issues have included:

  • Achieving reform of Directors' Compliance Statement requirements;
  • Recognition of the term 'accountant'
  • Obtaining an increased audit exemption threshold
  • Auditor liability reform
  • Successfully negotiating with Revenue a five year implementation period for the UITF 40 'work in progress' issue

The work of our committees in this regard is supported by a proactive media and lobbying policy.
