Safeguarding your Profession

Why regulate our members? Because ultimately, the standing of our profession is dependent on the professional conduct of us all. All Institute members must maintain the highest standards of integrity, professional independence and confidentiality. In addition, those members in public practice must comply with a broad range of legislation and regulation governing the work they perform for their clients.

Chartered Accountants Regulatory Board (CARB)

In 2007, members voted to amend the Bye-laws to establish a new body - the Chartered Accountants Regulatory Board (CARB) - to which Chartered Accountants Ireland's regulatory functions are devolved. This body is operationally independent of the Council of the Institute and introduces even more transparency into a regulatory structure that is already among the most highly regarded of the professions. All members, working either in business or in practice, are subject to regulation by CARB.
