STUDY LEAVE
The Institute recommends that training firms provide time off to their students to present for examination. The recommended study leave is intended to accommodate attendance on education courses, e.g. block release, and also private study.
The following recommendations are made in relation to leave for study for those preparing as first attempt candidates for the CA Proficiency 1 examination:
| Papers 1, 2 & 3 |
1 week per subject |
| Papers 4(a) & 4(b) |
2.5 days per subject |
Recommended study leave is exclusive of time required to sit the examination.
NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS
Students may make a maximum of 4 attempts over 2 years from the start date of the Training Contract (or from the registration date of a pre-contract student). The 1st sitting will normally be made at the Summer Session in Year 1 of the Training Contract, following completion of the education course. When a student does not avail of an opportunity to sit during the 2 year period, the sitting is forfeited.
Students must sit for all outstanding subjects on each attempt.
ADJUDICATION OF RESULTS
- Candidates are required to pass each subject independently.
- In order to pass each subject, the candidate must achieve aminimum of 50% or better (based on amalgamation of any applicable Continuous Assessment component and the examination paper)
- Independent passes in each subject are referred to as credits.Where a candidate obtains a credit in every subject in the combination of subjects sat, his result will be adjudicated as Pass.
