STUDY LEAVE

The Institute recommends that training firms provide time off to their students to present for examination. The recommended study leave is intended to accommodate attendance on education courses, e.g. block release, and also private study.

The following recommendations are made in relation to leave for study for those preparing as first attempt candidates for the CA Proficiency 2 examination:

6 WEEKS

Notes

- Recommended study leave is exclusive of time required to sit the examinations

- Recommended study leave is pro rata, per paper

- Three weeks per module if taken on a modular basis

Re-sit following 1st Attempt

An additional 1 week study leave for the whole part or two days per module, and pro rata, is recommended for an Autumn re-sit immediately following a 1st attempt at the Summer Session only.

NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS

Students may make a maximum of 6 attempts over 3 years. The 1st sitting will normally be made at the Summer Session. If a student does not avail of an opportunity to sit 2 attempts within 1 year (Summer and Autumn) the sitting is forfeited.

Students must sit for all outstanding subjects on each attempt.

ADJUDICATION OF RESULTS

  1. Candidates are required to pass each subject independently.
  2. In order to pass each subject, the candidate must achieve a minimum of 50% or better (based on amalgamation of any applicable Continuous Assessment component and the examination paper)
  3. Independent passes in each subject are referred to as credits.Where a candidate obtains a credit in every subject in the combination of subjects sat, his result will be adjudicated as Pass.
