  • HMRC has published an issue briefing on Simple assessment
  • An updated list of upcoming tax tribunal appeal hearings, including details of previous cases has been published
  • HMRC has set up an online tax forum and webchat service to help small businesses and the self-employed with their various tax queries
  • HMRC have published a new online guide which explains reporting and paying tax on payments received for use of image rights, including payments made to an image rights company. More information on image rights and how they are taxed is published in HMRC’s Employment Income Manual
  • Check out the latest information on recognising genuine HMRC contact and recognising phishing emails and texts
  • HMRC has updated the list (List 3) of professional bodies and learned societies, approved by HMRC for the purpose of section 344 ITEPA 2003 (allowable deductions from earnings for fees and subscriptions paid to professional bodies/learned societies). The list includes all bodies approved up to April 2017
