Income from property for individual

This session will take a comprehensive look at two measures introduced by Finance Act 2, 2017:

  • the cash basis for property businesses (from the 2017-18 tax year, the cash basis will be the default basis for most property businesses that are run by individuals)
  • the property allowance tax exemption of up to £1,000 a year for individuals with income from land or property.

Addressing non-compliance with the off-payroll working rules in the private sector – next steps

The government will introduce reform to increase compliance with the off-payroll working rules (commonly known as IR35) in the private sector. This webinar will:

  • provide an overview of the off-payroll working rules and the background to this reform;
  • provide an overview of the education and support that HMRC is developing to help customers and tax advisers implement these changes; and 
  • outline the timeline towards April 2020.

These interactive meetings run on the ‘GoToWebinar’ platform. The organiser will run through how to ask questions on the day.

HMRC are also trialling some new podcasts to help you and your clients with your tax obligations and financial affairs. The podcasts will give you access to interviews and chats with key policy officials and teams offering you information, tips and support. An initial set of three podcasts have been produced covering the following topics:

  • Making Tax Digital
  • Payroll Submissions
  • Tax relief for landlords: Replacement of Domestic Items.
