Chartered Accountants Ireland is professional membership body representing over 27,000 influential members throughout the globe in the accountancy profession. Our role is to educate, regulate, represent and support our members. Our members as Chartered Accountants work in senior positions in practice and industry. The Finance team is responsible for the Institute’s financial management and reporting, including related entities and staff pension schemes. We are recruiting for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the finance team.

The role:

Reporting to the Financial Controller the Assistant Financial Accountant will be responsible for:

Key responsibilities

  • Finance business partner to a segment of the Institute’s operating departments which will include preparing monthly accounts and accruals, quarterly forecasts and annual budget; providing advice and guidance on finance related matters.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts to first draft and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Month end close with system interface reconciliations.
  • Preparation of reports and analysis for the Leadership Team.
  • Responsible for Accounts Payable Function
  • Liaising with external auditors to facilitate the year-end audit.
  • Assist in the implementation of process improvements.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Financial Controller or Finance Director from time to time.

The role includes maintaining proactive and trusting relationships with internal stakeholders across the business. Accordingly the successful candidate will be process oriented and demonstrate the following competencies:

 Required competencies

  • Recently qualified or part qualified accountant with solid understanding of accounting policies.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and evaluative skills.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Proven business and financial acumen.
  • Process Orientated
  • Demonstrable excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build lasting relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.
  • Competent with MS office skills, particularly Excel skills (pivot, v-lookup tables), Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Dynamic Great Plains accounting system beneficial.
