Chartered Accountants Ireland has key regulatory objectives. One of which is to ensure compliance with the Institute’s Regulations for Training Firms and Organisations and Regulations to meet the Educational Requirements for the Audit Qualification. These regulations specify the role and requirements of Recognised Training Firms/Organisations (RTOs), trainees and mentors.

The Education & Training Department of Chartered Accountants Ireland is responsible for the education, training and assessment of approx. over 6,000 students. The Training and Regulatory Assurance Officer will be based within the Training Support Unit (TSU) and will support the Education and Training Support Manager by taking ownership of processes, which are key to the unit’s operational objectives.

The appointee will perform a key role in ensuring that RTOs are meeting regulatory obligations, which will enable trainees to demonstrate eligibility requirements for admission to membership of the Institute and – where applicable – the Educational Requirements for the Audit Qualification. A fundamental aspect of the role will be to monitor and provide quality assurance of relevant work experience recording, on the online CA Diary of professional development.

 The Role:

The role of Training and Regulatory Assurance Officer will cover areas of responsibility, including but not limited to:  

  • Review of applications to train from prospective RTOs
  • Administrative support around RTO monitoring interventions
  • Supporting the unit, where required, with onsite visits and presentations
  • Administration of audit qualification processes
  • Provision of training support to students, mentors and RTOs

The Expectations:

Applications and authorisation to train

  • Conduct initial review of applications against regulatory requirements
  • Preparation of file for authorisation approval and updating of systems
  • Scheduling and performing initial authorisation to train visits
  • Administrative follow through
  • Review of notifications from Professional Standards – which may impact on authorisation to train – and taking relevant actions

    RTO monitoring interventions and presentations

  • Supporting Student Support Executives, where required, to respond to related telephone enquiries within set timeframes
  • Provide proactive support, advice and assistance to students in relation to their studies and professional development requirements
  • Providing guidance and administrative support to RTOs, mentors and students
  • Data Management; filing and archiving of related documentation
  • Input into statistical analysis of TSU activities
  • Scheduling, support and co-ordination of activities related to Training Support Visits and Remote reviews
  • Administrative follow-up and closeout on resultant follow-up actions
  • Presenting to new intake/current students and mentors, as required

Supporting the Manager, Regulations & Accreditation on Audit Qualification matters, including:

  • Initial quality assurance review of records of experience
  • Liaising with staff in Registration and Subscription team around any queries that arise
  • Input into the process of issuing automated Audit Qualifications
  • Initial review and co-ordinating the review of submitted Audit Qualification applications
  • Responding to regulator’s queries and supporting around regulator visits

Training support

  • Supporting Student Support Executives, where required, to respond to related telephone enquiries within set timeframes
  • Provide proactive support, advice and assistance to students in relation to their studies and professional development requirements
  • Providing guidance and administrative support to RTOs, mentors and students
  • Data Management; filing and archiving of related documentation

The Candidate:

The Training and Regulatory Assurance Officer should have demonstrable experience in a customer centric culture, providing best in class customer centric engagement. Experience in an education and/or regulatory environment is essential.

  • Have exceptionally strong customer service and organisational skills.
  • Have a keen interest in keeping up-to-date with changes that will affect the delivery of education and the student experience.
  • Excel at managing a diverse and challenging workload, varying from complex administrative functions to people management.
  • Have the ability to process large volumes of information.
  • Have excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Be personally effective, managing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in working in a continuous improvement environment
  • Candidates should possess a degree-level or equivalent professional qualification or significant professional experience in a similar role
