Jun 30, 2017
IAASA has published its 2016 Annual Report. The Report, which was laid before the House of the Oireachtas last week, details the work the Authority carried out throughout the year under review.

The Chief Executive and Chairman’s statements respectively give further information on this work together with their perspectives on the key issues which lie ahead.

In his introductory statement, Martin Sisk, Chairman of IAASA, highlighted some significant developments that occurred in 2016. They included audit reform, investigations, staffing resources, Brexit and board composition.

Acknowledging the contribution of the IAASA board, executive and staff, Mr Sisk said: “As IAASA moves forward into a new era under a revised legislative structure, it will be vital that all parties work together to create an efficient and robust regulatory environment for the profession.”

Meanwhile, Kevin Prendergast, CEO at IAASA, described the 2016 Report as a “comprehensive review” of the breadth of work undertaken by the Authority in 2016.

"Achieving this, and dealing with the changing legislative environment within which we operate, brought enormous challenges to the organisation during the year," he said.
