Overview: Distance Programme (CAP1, CAP2 & FAE)

The Distance programme was introduced in 2014-2015 as a blended learning approach with reduced contact time. This was created to offer flexibility to students who may find it difficult to attend all the contact sessions on the traditional model. It was designed with the self-directed learner in mind; ahead of each workshop you are required to view and engage with theory-based online recordings; at the practical workshops you have an opportunity to review areas you struggled with and work through questions.

For 2016-17, the Distance programme is available in Dublin, Belfast and Galway for CAP1 and CAP2. FAE currently runs Distance in Dublin and Belfast (with Galway becoming an option in 2017-18).

The same material and content is offered to both the distance students and those attending the traditional model and the exam structure is also the same. Some additional online supports available:

  • Guidance emails throughout the course to help map your progress and keep you on track
  • Online ‘Ask Me Anything’ (AMA) sessions with the lecturers

An introduction and structure document for each programme is available which is essential reading.
