On this page you will find various notes, extracts and materials to help you in your studies.
The CAP2 competency statement 2017-2018 and a document highlighting any significant changes in this document from versions in previous years, are available to download below. This is the shared document between the education delivery and examination departments. Please note that if it is listed in the competency statement, it is examinable in the summer/autumn exams. Our materials are prepared each year to the guidance of the competency statement.
If you gained a CAP1 exemption it is your responsibility to ensure you are up to date and equipped for your studies going forward. To help you do this, the cumulative principle document has been designed to help you identify and summarise the knowledge and skills that need to be carried forward from CAP1 to CAP2.
Underneath this are two documents to help you with answering exam questions:
The first is the Lexicon; a useful document that explains
what is being asked -- it contains a list of commonly used verbs/instructions with their meaning. Students sometimes lose marks in the exam because they do not answer the question that is asked; so make sure you know the difference between an outline and a plan, and also if you have been asked to draft a memo or an email.
The Summer 2017 PEC report is the second valuable document, as it contains the summer paper from 2017 with suggested solutions and examiner comments. Use these notes to your advantage as it may highlight what aspect of a question was answered well and give insight and guidance in how you could improve your own answers.
Next on the list is a document outlining how the CA Diary works.
Finally, please note that there is a support service for all members of the Institute (including student members).
