CAP1 summer exam results released

Oct 09, 2020

Chartered Accountants Ireland published the CAP1 Summer 2020 exam results this morning.

Overall the results are very good and are broadly in line with those of May 2019 results. Students have performed very well and this has been assisted by the ability to supply typed responses using E-Assessment.

In reviewing the results Ian Browne (Deputy Director of Education) noted:

  • 78% of students achieved a pass in all papers sat with a further 13% achieving a credit (i.e. passing one or more of papers sat).  This compares to 80% and 14% in 2019.  The number of students failing all subjects sat rose to 9%;
  • Paper pass rates:  The pass rates on individual papers are slightly ahead of the performances of May 2019, with the exception of Taxation ROI/NI. The weighted average pass rate across all papers (1st attempts only) was 87% which was 90% in 2019;
  • The flexible route candidates have continued to perform well;
  • The distance education offerings have also performed well.
Mr Browne congratulated all students on their achievement and he thanked all the training firms, lecturers, examiners and staff for their contribution towards this excellent result.
