FAE August 2019 exam results released

Oct 18, 2019

Chartered Accountants Ireland published the FAE August 2019 exam results this morning.  Overall the results are very good and are broadly in line with the good performances achieved in August 2017 and 2018.

In reviewing the results Ian Browne (Head of Assessment & Syllabus) noted:

  • 78% of students achieved a pass in all papers sat with a further 15% achieving a credit (i.e. passing one or more of papers sat).  This compares to 80% and 14% in 2018.  The number of students failing all papers sat was 7% (6% in August 2018);
  • Paper pass rates:  The pass rates on individual papers are broadly in line with the good performances of August 2017 and 2018;
  • The flexible route candidates have continued to perform well;
  • The distance education offerings have also performed well.

The overall performance in 2019 has been driven by the continued good performances across the Core & Elective papers. The new Financial Services and Public Sector Electives have performed very well. It is worth noting though that the numbers taking these Electives were very small making any meaningful statistical analysis very difficult. Please note the pass rates per paper in the table below:
