Finance Bill 2022 (official title Finance (No.2) Bill 2021-22) continues its progress through the parliamentary process and reached Public Bill Committee stage last month. The Public Bill Committee met on 11 January and completed its deliberations that day. The Bill has now moved to Report Stage which is the final stage at which amendments can be made. At present, there are no dates for Report Stage and third reading in the House of Commons.
Prior to the Christmas recess, various provisions of the Bill were agreed by the Committee without amendment. The Government also proposed amendments to the legislation on the notification of uncertain tax treatment for large businesses (Schedule 15) which were agreed to at Public Bill Committee stage. All other provisions were also passed without amendment, including those relating to basis period reform.
