Five things you need to know about tax, 24 August 2018

Highlights this week include some changes to the 2017 ROS Form 11, HMRC issue a VAT briefing and a Fair Taxation Seminar takes place in Dublin in September.   


  1. On the ROS Form 11 for 2017, individuals must now confirm their nationality as well as residence and domicile status while details of scheme payments received from the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine will be pre-populated for 2017
  2. Revenue are reminding tax filers that when filing a Form 11 on a joint assessment basis, additional information about the taxpayer’s spouse or civil partner must be provided.Read more on our website



  3. The EU has published an amendment to the Directive on Administrative Co-operation, that will require intermediaries to report certain cross‑border, tax-planning arrangements to tax authorities
  4. Revenue and Customs Brief 5 (2018) explains HMRC's policy on goods supplied on approval, and the VAT liability of the delivery charges for these goods



  5. The European Commission is running a Fair Taxation Seminar in Dublin on 26 September 2018 and registration is now open
