Representatives from the Institute’s Northern Ireland Tax Committee and tax team met recently with senior policy advisers from the Office of Tax Simplification (“OTS”) to discuss the OTS’s current review of tax simplification.
The meeting discussed the benefits of simplification and the ways this can be practically achieved and measured. The NI Tax Committee also provided examples of tax complexity and the way this is impacts on taxpayers, agents and HMRC. The OTS was also interested to hear about how the Irish tax system works and how agents engage with the Revenue Commissioners through the TALC process.
