Revenue published the latest
Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) and the Covid Restrictions Support Scheme
(CRSS) statistics last week. The number of premises for which claims were made
during the claim week after 4 January has fallen compared to previous claim
weeks. The Minister for Finance confirmed that the Government has “no plans to
change the eligibility criteria for the CRSS” in his response to parliamentary
questions on the scheme last week.
The
latest COVID-19
Support Scheme Statistics show €37.5 million
was claimed in respect of 11,100 premises for the claim weeks commencing after
4 January. The number of premises for which a claim has been made has fallen
from 19,100 for the claim week up to 21 December and 16,100 premises for the
claim weeks 21 December, 28 December and 4 January.
The
Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe TD, provided responses to parliamentary
questions relating to the exclusion of
certain businesses from the CRSS.
EWSS
payments of €392 million were paid to 35,600 employers in respect of 343,800
employees in the month of January. February payments to 4 February amount to
€40.8 million to 10,900 employers in respect of 109,900 employees. The total
cost of payments made under the scheme amounts to €1.8 billion.
