Jun 05, 2020
Galway-based Lauraine Ryan recently became the 28,000th member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and her career and achievements so far were featured in an interview this week with The Connacht Tribune. In conversation with the paper, Lauraine spoke about her career path over the last 25 years, from training as a software developer after leaving school, to achieving her Diploma in Education and teaching and working as an accountant.

Having availed of the flexible route, Lauraine completed her CAP1, CAP2 and FAE exams, and is now a Chartered Accountant and teaches accountancy at Galway Technical Institute, while also working as an accountant at MPL Plant Hire in Knockdoe, near Claregalway.

Lauraine highlighted the many routes through which young people can now access accountancy as a career choice, saying “you can actually come straight out of school and do an apprenticeship, do the Accounting Technicians course and qualify as an accountant – it’s an amazing programme.”

Lauraine is one of over 28,000 members that are educated, represented, and supported by Chartered Accountants Ireland all around the world.
