OECD report – ending the Shell Game

Mar 01, 2021

The OECD has published a new report that outlines strategies and actions for tackling the professionals who enable tax evasion and other financial crimes on behalf of clients.

The report outlines that white collar crimes like tax evasion, bribery and corruption are often concealed through complex legal structures and financial transactions and facilitated by a small sub-set of professional enables, such as lawyers, accountants and financial institutions.

The report sets out guidance on the five areas that could be considered in developing national strategies for addressing these issues:

  1. Skills and awareness
  2. Effective legislation
  3. Disruption strategies
  4. Cooperation between revenue agencies
  5. Effective implementation
