United States and Canada outreach programme – Week 2 round up

Mar 21, 2019

The Chartered Accountants Ireland overseas member engagement programme in the United States and Canada concluded this week with President Feargal McCormack and Director of Tax and Public Policy Brian Keegan meeting with members and partner organisations in Washington, New York, Boston and Toronto.  Discussions took place on a range of issues including a reflection on Ireland’s pivotal position in the debate on international taxation and future trading relationships and opportunities post-Brexit.

For St Patrick’s Day, Feargal McCormack represented the Institute at the White House Shamrock ceremony, at St Patrick’s Cathedral and in the New York parade. This was followed by a joint North-South business briefing event for members and other guests in the Moët Hennessy Headquarters, along with a further ACAUS members’ event.   The programme then moved on to Boston for a networking reception at the Irish Consulate, and culminated this morning with a business briefing for members in Toronto hosted by Deloitte.

The programme significantly benefited from the support of government agencies north and south of the border, ACAUS, member firms who hosted events, and not least the members who attended the engagements.
