Trócaire seeks new Audit & Risk Committee members

Trócaire is seeking Expressions of Interest from people who are willing to contribute their knowledge and skills to sit on our Audit & Risk Committee (ARC). The ARC is a Committee of the Trócaire Board made up of Board members and external appointees. Members are appointed on a voluntary basis.

This Committee fulfils an advisory and governance role through:
Assisting the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities by reviewing the Annual Financial Statements and the effectiveness of Trócaire’s internal controls. Providing oversight of financial reporting to the Board and related accounting issues.
Monitoring the effectiveness of External and Internal Audit functions. Meeting the External Auditor at least once a year and recommend to the Board the appointment, removal and remuneration of the External Auditor.
Assisting the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities for determining the nature and extent of the significant risks it is willing to take in achieving its strategic objectives. Providing oversight, in conjunction with other Board Committees, of related risk management and internal control systems.

Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Financial reporting in Ireland and/or Northern Ireland
Internal and/or external audit
Risk Management and/or Internal controls

Trócaire is particularly seeking candidates who have experience of these issues in the charity sector and those who have experience of the Charities SORP.

In line with Trócaire’s Board and Committee Diversity policy, Trócaire is seeking to improve the diversity of its Board and Board Committees. Trócaire is seeking women and men candidates.

In particular at this time Trócaire is seeking candidates who’s background and/or ethnicity reflects the diversity of the communities that Trócaire serves in Africa, Asia, Central America and the Middle East.
