Accounts Assistant and Events Support Executive

We are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant and Events Support Executive to work with Leinster District Society in the Member Experience Team. This role forms part of the overall Member Experience team, which runs a range of professional development courses and events, admissions to membership ceremonies, Presidential events, Institute events and conferences as well as specialist qualifications and Diploma programmes. The role will be based in Chartered Accountants House on Dublin’s Pearse Street and will involve occasional travel to venues around Ireland. The Leinster Society is the largest district society of Chartered Accountants Ireland. The Society has at present over 13,000 members and provides networking events, educational and social services for its Members.

The role:


You will be responsible for all accounting and book-keeping requirements for the Leinster Society including the collation, checking and analysis of financial information to support the financial governance of the Leinster Society. In addition to the key responsibilities of the society’s accounts, the candidate will provide support at corporate events across a very busy events department.

Specific areas of responsibility:

Administration & Finance:

  • Responsible for day to day bookkeeping for Leinster Society events, purchase orders, monthly bank reconciliationss, working with the Treasurer in preparation of annual accounts. Lodgements, Credit Control, Debtors & Creditors.
  • Invoicing, processing payments, raising refunds & credit notes and ad-hoc assistance with head office quarterly accounts of other District Societies.

Event support, member experience

  • Working as part of a wider events team and supporting events.
  • Taking bookings for events over the phone, email and on-line.
  • Responding to customer queries and providing a strong customer service.
  • Attending and supporting customer/ member facing events.
  • Assisting with all aspects of set-up and registration at events.

Committees:

  • Provide general administration support to other committees as required.

Reporting to: District & Global Member Manager

The candidate:

The Accounts Assistant will be expected to develop and maintain proactive and trusting relationships with stakeholders.  Accordingly the successful candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:

Experience & skills required:

  • Min 2 – 3 years book-keeping and general accounts experience
  • Accounting Technician qualification highly desirable
  • Experience with Xero preferable but not essential

Person Specification:

  • High standard of professionalism with the ability to work in an environment with a strong focus on excellence and customer experience
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively within the organisation, with members and other stakeholders including senior business professionals.
  • Uses initiative, discretion and has the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to changing priorities
  • Takes responsibility for ensuring work is completed efficiently and within deadlines with high levels of accuracy
  • Must be flexible and reliable as some events may be outside regular working hours.
