Last month on L-day, a consultation proposing to reform the long established basis period rules was launched. This consultation closes next week on Tuesday 31 August and broadly proposes to change the rules such that the self-employed and unincorporated businesses would be taxed on the profits arising in each tax year instead of on the profits of the accounting period ending in the tax year.
We’d like to hear your views on this proposed change. Please send your comments to leontia.doran@charteredaccountants.ie by Friday 27 August 2021.
