In Boothe v Ellard 1980 I WLR 1443 it was held that since the family retained the right to direct the trustees what to do with the shares they were absolutely entitled as against the trustees.

“Absolutely entitled” is not necessarily restricted to beneficial entitlement. Bond v Pickford 1983 STC 517

The word “jointly” is not confined to joint tenants; it can mean two or more. Kidson v MacDonald & Another 1974 STC 54
