Introduction of Electronic Form RSS1 - Return of Share Options and other Rights

Companies are obliged to provide information to Revenue in relation to the grant, assignment or release of rights or the allotment of shares, or the transfer of any asset under rights granted in accordance with Section 128(11) Taxes Consolidation Act 1997.

Following the enactment of Finance Act 2014, such information must be delivered in an electronic format approved by the Revenue Commissioners, not later than the 31 March in the year of assessment following the year in which any such event takes place. The law provides for both civil penalties and criminal sanctions for failure to make a return, the making of a false return, or facilitating the making of a false return.

Further to eBrief No. 02/15, the electronic Form RSS1 2014 is now available on the Revenue website.

The electronic Form RSS1 is in a spreadsheet format, tailored to capture the relevant information and is easy and quick to complete and submit.
