The Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation (DBEI) is conducting a public consultation to inform the delivery of guidance on remote working for both employers and employees to increase the uptake of remote working. While taxation is not expressly listed as an area for consideration, Chartered Accountants Ireland will respond with suggestions on tax issues relevant to remote workers.

Chartered Accountants Ireland will call for changes to the rules for reimbursement of employee expenses by employers and changes to the tax treatment of employee expenditure which is not reimbursed by employers.
