EWSS Sweepback – submit claims before 14 October

Revenue issued a press release on 25 September, detailing that the first EWSS sweepback payments have already been processed. The sweepback facility allows for claims to be backdated to 1 July 2020 for newly or seasonally hired employees who were ineligible for the TWSS. Applications for the sweepback must be submitted before 14 October.

Revenue confirmed that EWSS sweepback payments of over €12.1 million on behalf of almost 2,700 employers and in respect of 15,100 employees have now been processed. These payments have been lodged to the nominated bank account of the employer. Guidance on the Operation of the July/August Sweepback as part of the EWSS is available for employers seeking to submit applications before 14 October. Revenue confirmed that applications will be processed weekly up to that date.
