DBEI Guidance for Remote Working consultation
The Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation held a public consultation on the Guidance on Remote Working in August, to which Chartered Accountants Ireland, under the auspices of the CCAB-I, provided a submission. The results of this consultation were published last month, with tax and financial incentives being the theme on which the largest number of submissions were received. The current process for claiming the tax relief is viewed as overly difficult and not sufficient to cover employees’ costs.
The Programme for Government makes a commitment to develop a strategy for remote working and the Minister for Finance announced on Budget Day the establishment of an Interdepartmental Group to work on this strategy which will continue the work commenced by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation.
