Tax arrangements for remote working to be reviewed

The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar TD, published the National Remote Working Strategy on Friday, 15 January. The Strategy will address the current tax arrangements for remote working.

Making Remote Work: National Remote Work Strategy provides that the Tax Strategy Group will review the current tax arrangements for remote working for employees and employers. This review will inform a decision on further enhancements to the tax arrangements for remote working in the context of Budget 2022.

The publication of the National Remote Work Strategy follows on from a consultation process completed last year to which Chartered Accountants Ireland, under the auspices of the CCAB-I, made a submission on the need to reform the tax treatment of e-working arrangements.

Further information on the National Remote Working Strategy is available on the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment website.
