New rules for cross-border VAT e-commerce

The European Commission has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the new rules on cross-border VAT e-commerce. From 1 July 2021, the VAT rules on cross-border business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce activities will change. The new rules seek to simplify the VAT obligations and reduce the burden for businesses engaged in cross-border online sales. There is a new webpage on the Commission’s website providing further information, along with factsheets and infographics.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the new VAT e-commerce regulations for online sellers, online marketplaces, postal operators and the general public, while also encouraging online sellers and online marketplaces to use the new One-Stop-Shop and Import One-Stop-Shop.
