New EU Financial programme enters into force
The EU’s new financial programme 2021–2027, worth €270 million, entered into force on Friday, 28 May. The programme aims to support tax authorities enhance the functioning of the internal EU market and foster EU competitiveness and fair competition. More than 70 percent of the budget is used to finance IT systems linking national tax administrations that are essential for the exchange of tax information to fight tax fraud, tax evasion and tax avoidance.
It also helps to protect the financial and economic interests of the EU and its Member States from problems related to tax fraud, tax evasion and tax avoidance, and supports efforts to improve tax collection.
