New Secretary General of Department of Finance appointment

Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe, recently announced the appointment of Mr John Hogan as Secretary General of the Department of Finance. Mr Hogan was previously the Assistant Secretary General with responsibility for Tax Policy Division in the Department of Finance. He takes over the position from Mr Derek Moran.

The Secretary General of the Department of Finance is responsible for economic, budgetary, fiscal, banking and financial service policy matters. Mr Hogan took up the position from 8 of June to become the 18th head of the Department since it was established in 1922.
