UK Trader Scheme – ongoing authorisations
The UK government announced that it will continue to operate the Protocol on its current basis. This means that existing arrangements continue, and declarations and other processes must be made for goods moving into Northern Ireland.
For the UK Trader Scheme, this means that businesses that are not established in Northern Ireland and without a fixed place of business in Northern Ireland can continue to use the UK Trader Scheme beyond 31 October 2021. HMRC is writing to all users of the UK Trader Scheme to confirm that they do not need to take any action and their authorisation will continue beyond 31 October 2021.
More information is available in the 46th edition of the Trader Support Service Bulletin.
HMRC has confirmed to the Institute that either a GB EORI number or XI EORI number can be used to apply to the UK Trader Scheme, in light of the updated requirements for new XI EORI number applications.
