2 in 3 Chartered Accountants surveyed favour a devolved corporation tax rate for Northern Ireland
Results of a recent Institute survey revealed that two in every three Chartered Accountants surveyed favour the introduction of a devolved corporation tax rate for Northern Ireland, with almost nine in ten of the belief that the rate should be less than the current 19 percent. The Institute, which represents almost 5,000 accountants working in Northern Ireland, surveyed members last month on the launch of its annual position paper, The Next Financial Year.
A delegation from the Institute met with the independent Fiscal Commission earlier this month to discuss the survey results with the Commission in addition to other potential fiscal devolution measures. The Institute’s formal submission to the Fiscal Commission is published on our website.
The survey results will also be used to inform wider Institute work in the context of the increase to the rate of corporation tax in the UK from April 2023. More information on the survey results is included in a press release issued by the Institute.
