The Global Forum on Tax Transparency to support EU’s tax haven list

Nov 20, 2017

Two hundred delegates recently met in Cameroon for the 10th meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes which now includes 147 countries and jurisdictions.

Delegates attending the Forum agreed that the countries and jurisdictions working within the Global Forum as well as within the Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) could provide support to the EU on its current listing exercise to identify third country jurisdictions that fail to comply with tax governance standards.

The European Commission is working on an agreement to develop an EU tax haven black list.  This work has gained more momentum in light of the recent publication of the “Paradise Papers”.
