Who should attend
A must attend session for any Northern Ireland or British based practitioner with clients who are based or have operations in the Republic of Ireland.
UK Holders of ROI audit registration should be especially interested in this course, as the Irish Audit Supervisor IAASA has since 2022 introduced new requirements for auditors to demonstrate specific competence in the audit of ROI companies.
Course overview
Topics to be covered during this afternoon course will include:
- An overview of the key Irish regulators and state bodies, such as IAASA and the Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA);
- Detailed guidance regarding the Companies Act 2014 and the financial reporting and auditing frameworks in place in the Republic of Ireland;
- The key differences between the two jurisdictions with regards to Company Law, Financial Reporting and Auditing;
- Claiming Audit Exemption for Irish clients;
- Reporting to the CEA, IAASA and other relevant parties by the Auditors of Irish companies, and
- The impacts of Brexit for Northern Irish and British
based accountants and auditors with Irish clients.

By the end of thsi course, participans will be able to:
Have a better understanding of the Company Law, Financial Reporting and Auditing frameworks in place in the Republic of Ireland, as well as the key differences between the two jurisdictions with regards to these matters.
Speaker Bios
Conal Kennedy - Conal is Head of Practice Consulting in Chartered Accountants Ireland. He and his team provide advice and support to practices throughout Ireland, and publish a range of practice toolkits covering audit, accounting and compliance. Over a 16 year period in Practice Consulting, Conal has coached and advised many practices through major change events such as mergers, acquisitions and retirements. He has also advised on practice development and marketing.
Jeremy Twomey-Jeremy in his role as Practice Consulting Manager works to support our member practitioners across our service areas, with a particular focus on compliance support, training and our associated advisory services. Jeremy is a Fellow of the Institute, having trained with Ernst & Young; he has held senior management positions across both financial and professional services, as well as the public sector.
