• Extend your Excel skills by working with a broad range of key functions, tools and analytical techniques.
• Learn how to manage, analyse and present data more effectively using Excel.
• Build competence with advanced formulas and functions (e.g., IF/IFS, COUNTIF/COUNTIFS, XLOOKUP) to automate and simplify calculations.
• Format and organise worksheets via tables, named ranges and dynamic referencing for better structure and navigation.
• Create and customise charts (such as sunburst, histogram, combo charts) to visualise insights from your data.
• Use data-tools like conditional formatting, data validation and Flash Fill to maintain quality and adhere to best practices.
• Explore PivotTables, PivotCharts and PIVOTBY including slicers/timelines for summarising large datasets.
• Improve efficiency by using built-in Excel features like Quick Analysis, custom lists, and enhanced copy/paste workflows.
• Begin leveraging AI-enabled tools within Excel (e.g., “Analyse Data”) and externally – Copilot and ChatGPT - and how they integrate into your data-workflow.
• Perfect for users with basic Excel knowledge who want to work smarter, optimise reporting and handle more complex tasks.

Key learning outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to understand how to:

• Apply logical, lookup and text functions (e.g., IF / IFS, XLOOKUP, TEXTJOIN) to automate data tasks
• Utilise tables, named ranges and dynamic referencing to structure and manage worksheets effectively
• Create, format and manipulate advanced charts (e.g., sunburst, histogram, combo charts) to visualise data clearly.
• Build and customise PivotTables and PivotCharts, including use of slicers for interactive analysis.
• Employ advanced data-analysis tools such as the Quick Analysis tool and Flash Fill to speed up work.
• Apply conditional formatting and data validation to enhance data quality and readability.
• Sort, filter and summarise large datasets to extract meaningful insights and reports.
• Use AI-enabled features within Excel (e.g., “Analyse Data”) and integrate with external tools like ChatGPT and Copilot for deeper data exploration.
• Manage data across multiple worksheets or workbooks, ensuring integrity and coherent relationships.
• Increase productivity and efficiency in Excel by utilising advanced copy-paste options, custom lists and built-in automation tools.

• Microsoft Office/ Apps Version 

Participants should have a Microsoft 365 subscription but supported older desktop versions are workable.

• Excel for Mac Users

Microsoft Excel 365 for Mac has some incompatibilities with Windows and certain features are not available.  Contact us before booking if you are in any doubt about your setup.

• Windows 11 / 10 ESU

We prepare the files and deliver the course using Windows 11 but Windows 10 on Extended Support is fine. 

• Two monitors recommended

This allows better viewing of the trainer's screen and relevant Microsoft 365 application or AI site. If you only have a single screen, please inform us prior to the course.
